Banking Needs in a Climate Conscious World

Most of the information we see about climate change is on global and long term, big picture impacts. Maybe big-picture statistics are meaningful and motivating for some, but they are rarely actionable. There are some very real and immediate business decisions being made right now, both because of the changing climate, and because of the changing climate consciousness.

The point is: this is not abstract. It is affecting businesses and consumers today, the decisions they need to make, their risks, and the opportunities it creates for their financial institutions.

This presentation, hosted by the American Bankers’ Association, discussed the practical realities of the emerging climate-conscious economy for financial institutions – heightened portfolio risks, new and evolving financing opportunities created by the climate transition, the emerging need for guidance and partnership and banking customers navigate the climate journey, and the universal imperative to be part of the solution – and highlighted the ways banks should approach the opportunities and risks posed by this new world.
